also for custom world maps keep in mind that their art resolution is 3:2 and coords in dbc being server coords not client coords

Someone over at cmangos has a cms developed that'll display nodes on maps, but they've extracted those maps themselves (or found them online) and wanted an automated way to generate the maps. I wanted to try my hand at using what I'd learned about Python's image manipulation to merge the images into a single canvas, crop them, and then output it as a png.
