since you know, human mind is human mind so, sometimes we're prone to mistakes - i recently had similar problem with draenei rogue, it was showing correct gear until i created char who became naked - turned out i replaced dbc with older version in server by accident

I have thought of that to be honest, but I did this. I extracted again teh .dbc from the client, I exported the data into .csv from the previous one, edited with notepad++ and kept the lines that I want.
Afterwards I open the newly extracted .dbc and import those lines back. Replaced both client/server files and fired up. Guess what, same'o, same'o
I'll be sad If accidentally punch my screen . . . .
