so there's a different calculations for different render contexts ? kinda makes sense but the conversation was specifically about in game size though

Yes, e.g. M2 rendered in UI are not tied to any network object, so ofc the client needs to calculate its scale

while for network objects, e.g. your pet next to you the server sends its scale, so the client just applies it to the base M2 scale.
