Where would be a good place to poll the community? I need to ask the MySQL 5 vs 8 thing.
TL;DR(lol not really) the project I was working on was based in 5, it seems most servers / repacks use 5 (the classic ascent repack _Server code)
The hdd my project was on *went missing* and I lost my sql db. So I took the opportunity to upgrade from my older TrinityCore server to a newer AzrothCore server. But the newer one uses MySQL 8 so like 40% of my code doesn't work and will need to be ported over.
And if I'm doing that, I might as well upgrade php vers as well and then just redo the whole thing from scratch (it was only like 60 hours of work <:SadCrash:642553425086644225> ).
So I'm sure as hell not supporting 2 entire code bases (5 and 8) and I don't wanna write code that only a small amount of users can use.
5 seems to be still supported and is what most repacks seem to use (again just copying the same _Server folder for like 10 years)
I wish I could compile my own ver of AzrothCore but could never get all that junk (mostly cmake) to work.
So yeah how many servers out there use MySQL 5 vs 8? Is it worth porting my code or just down porting the wow server / finding a good blizlike AzrothCore repack that uses MySQL 5?

lol I am that older program that hasn't been updated yet.
But yeah most repacks are self contained so I can run both, just dont really wanna. Just want to use what the majority of the community uses, so my code works with the majority of wow server things.
But also the majority of wow server things hasn't been updated much in a decade sooo yeah.
