Editing dbc's is way faster for sure. But when this change was implemented in the version of trinitycore I was using WDBX didn't exist and DBCeditor and converting to csv was still the normal thing to do however when converting it would often corrupt the files.
I just didn't really enjoy doing DBC related changes and would just do everything in the core if I could, it was just how I worked. It for sure wasn't always the fastest way to do things and maybe not the smartest but It worked for me.
