Well, it's strange and I must've done something wrong. There was originally a texture applied to it, but now it is absent and I cannot figure out why.
I tried exporting the basic m2 to see if I could redo what I had done, but I cannot do a basic import into blender. It just loads for a bit and then nothing appears.

Is there a special way to import? I remember there being something to import the last object in WMV, but it slipped completely free of my mind and I can't find that info again.

No, you just click import m2 and it should work unless the model is broken, and in that case it should give an error
