<@456226577798135808> does the epoch launcher edit MPQs ? I'm not seeing anything related to MPQ in the source, is it just downloading the whole file and overwriting ?

Yeah we just break our patches into logical small chunks. Audio in one, wmo's in another, interface files in another, EK gets its own patch and so does Kalimdor etc

makes sense, could become an issue as number of maps and models grows though

Long term yeah that royally sucks. The two big issues are EK and Kalimdor. The other files compressed are pretty damned small and rarely change.

Blizz back then basically shipped each expansions patch as just the changes needed for that patch. And then periodically (usually with a new expansion) merge the previous content into a big one.

Ik they release a big patch for each major version and merge each expension, but how do they do for minor versions ? there isn't 20 patches

`expansion.MPQ` is basically all the changes in TBC in one. 3.0 patch is `lichking.MPQ` and then patch 3.1 is patch.mpq, 3.2 is patch-2, 3.3 is patch-3 etc
