ah, I wanted to give an extra ability to all the pet families. Not sure I can be bothered going through every creature template for all the families.

maybe im crazy but you can just do an sql query targeting specific families

Aren't the pet spells handled through skills? Each hunter family has it's "skill" assigned, and the spells are linked to the skill in SkillLineAbility.dbc

You're right I just screwed up the SkillLineAbility.dbc export initially. Got it working now
