Sounds like you'd need to make it a geoset for each race/gender model.

I mean…it is cheaper than a string check. But at that point use a switch with cascading case. Performant and understandable.

Yeah I dont mind, I just have no idea where to implement such information in actual files. Nor I know if it should be centered around actual character model or character model should be cetered around item model. Just started to mess with blender

As I understand it, item geometry is added to each race/gender's model, and then the item's texture is simply applied to that 'geoset'. So if my understanding is correct, you'll need to learn how to add that 'helmet' as a geoset on each race/gender model, export the texture, and use it with that geoset.
