trying to export an edited m2i to an m2. encountered a new error i havent seen before: "failed to import M2I, version number unsupported".

Model: lordaeron_statue.m2 (classic I believe)
M2Mod: 4.8.13 (no other lets me export the m2 -> m2i)

Does anyone have an idea what this could mean?

The error message kinda explains itself, source m2 version is not compatible with this m2mod version

I would suggest using WBS for static M2 editing

You can use any m2mod version to convert m2 to m2i, however you won't be able to do anything with m2i if its version is unsupported

If you still want using m2mod for static m2s, I can suggest to use 9.0.0 that works fine with retail models

So, you want to take a retail m2, convert it to m2i, edit it with m2mod, export as m2i, convert it back to m2 and then retroport to any version you want
