And the OG concept on mmo-champ is using ley-lines and whatnot, and I'd prefer to make them a unique shape instead of just a rune circle ripoff

Essentially you need consecration with a new shape yes? This shape in a line I can imagine will be a challenge for sure to generate this “crevice”
Perhaps you could “simulate” the line using multiple small aoe circles placed in relation to the previous
Maybe if you can find a way to say take the consecration effect, and get another zone placed directly in “front” (relatively) of the previous (initial) zone, you can hack your way into what you are looking for
