there isn't a standardized way to move things around in memory like that because every file format is different. It needs to manually parse the whole format to know where it can place things again (and what references to change)

usually though you don't need to, and re-pointing to EOF is almost always enough as long as it's not a chunked format

yeah that's right, think wmid/mmid are relative to the beginning of the mmdx/mwmo chunks
