there's been some attempts at doing this, but any model that has been thought up would remain at odds with in-place editing, and it's very hard to conceive a good representation that doesn't just come down to "writing code but with dropdown windows".

I agree that there are a few things that could greatly benefit from visual representations, like creatures and spell creation, but i'm still on the carefully skeptical side of how much we would gain from a non-coding frontend for tswow as a whole at this time. Most of the issues titi have raised would remain with such a frontend, and the primary benefit would be for those who struggle with syntax (which I appreciate shouldn't be understated)
