with a "static" gui, there's no way for me to represent a "crop" in the program, just the individual components. The project will explode in complexity after just two crops added

in something like unreal, they've spent the time to allow users to actually create complex entities like this from a gui, which i've taken an interest in for some time

ah yeah I see what you mean, I don't deem that necessary though it's really an extra, just a nicer way to developp and make content is enough for me, which we don't have yet

this is like step 3 and we don't even have step 2

in tswow, i can create entities like these for designers to implement without too much difficulty, as long as they can learn how to fill out my "forms":

there are of course some hurdles to overcome with learning how to write text into an editor, but i'm not so sure the "fill out form"-workflow of datascripting is necessarily as difficult for non-coders to understand as traditional scripting, rather i've found the opposite when working with beginners in our server

step 1 is the current : manually modify dbs and dbcs with table editors and previsualisations and triage files to manually create all the components you said.
step 2 would be the GUI program like wow edit, edit that data much faster and better
step 3 would be pushing the program so that you can have all in one premade entities like this.

i get that, it's just a very large undertaking for something that will mostly just box you in and does little to facilitate the developer->designer workflow

but also manually finding out IDs and stuff with your tswow tools still would take longer than GUI step 2

definitely, there are of pros and cons of both approaches. The only reason we have tswow and not the other is just that the tswow way was just way easier to create
