That’s an excellent suggestion, I’ll give this a shot ASAP

This being said, I have issues converting these custom .m2’s into M2Mod, it always seems to crash with any of them I use.

At this point I may have to import the original MDX/MDL, export as m2i from there and redo the changes for the m2 again. Does this sound like a good plan?

Heh, thanks! It's actually what I've been doing myself. Apart from the usual pains of weight painting, it seems to work well enough. Makes it easy for models with an existing skeleton since you can just pose them close to the original M2 you're copying over, really cuts back on time when you're working with custom models.

But yeah, shouldn't give you any problems that I can think of off the top of my head, as long as you can actually import the model it's really as simple as just transferring the weights, fine-tuning it, exporting it out as M2i then importing it into an M2.

Good things to learn, I’ll test it out with a few different skeletons, a few off the top of my head would be The aforementioned demon, or perhaps a mixture of that and some titan boss, the model I have uses an “attack stance” as it’s stand animation (one foot out, the other behind, leaning back just a bit)

I figured any demon or blood elf male should help me accomplish this

That being said, the model does feature multiple “dead end” bones simply for spikes or a tail, what would be the best way to reconstruct something like a tail on top of another structure? Could I persay, copy the tail bones from some Drake and make the first bone attached to the rest simply by parent bone assignment?

Now that's a hard question to give an answer to. Theoretically, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work, though I've only just learned to work with M2's myself so I don't know if there'd be some weird problem from that. It's a bit hacky, but worst-case you could just assign the weights for something like a tail to just a general bodypart like the hips, or the torso for spikes, etc too.

I see what you mean, that would be interesting to see how this would be assembled in the final version, very interesting indeed. I’ll give it some good effort, getting sick of editing this piece-by-piece

A fresh .m2 will be a welcome change, perhaps I can use this opportunity to reduce the poly count as well
