Easiest solution without memory editing would be to rewrite that UI frame and use a custom packet or addon message to communicate the selection to the server, but the server also handles it as a uint8 everywhere - in code and DB

If it was me I would just ignore the blizzlike system and write my own, but that's me and what I am familiar with doing
