I think the closest Ive found to the desired effect is after a delay the caster applies a dot to enemies in a cone where hes facing

if not works, going to make a hackfix with creatures, spawning them positioned in cone and applying the damage aura when close

maybe have the spell drop an invisible trigger npc that periodically causes the effect in a cone and doesnt move but have the visual from the m2 applied as a dummy
