There is a negative connotation to micro transactions due to excessive use from companies like EA where you pay for a game and end up needing to pay mt to keep up. But ultimately imo mt are a great way to make a free game possible.

Unrelated but the two biggest times I've been turned off by WoW was by the infinite grind mechanics/systems where my fellow Raiders could stay home all day and run dungeons and be more powerful than me because of their grind - regardless if I was a more skilled player or not. It was infuriating when I had it happen in Legion. For context, I was a serious raider back then.
