Which isn't helping because the Map.dbc I'm looking at is for a different version and has different fields.

maybe im not inserting it fully in a correct way into the spell_template with the transfer query, ecause it looks like the problem is server side

Server query is simple, INSERT statement and it will return an OK type of message else it will error.

So there is no way you could be doing it wrong unless you're inserting in the wrong place or inserting the wrong data for example inserting into the wrong field or table or you're inserting the wrong values.
