i think it was a crash and possibly some issue with color channels, but that was the pywowlib fork that we use

issue with colour channels sounds like a likely suspect to me

(with crappy settings for blpconverter specifically, but the blplab one also had troubles with good settings)

haven't really measured success compared to the normal one, just know that someone did encounter issues with some specific files in the past
