Not sure if anybody said that, but Auras are generally treated as debuffs when you apply a value that's negative for the target f.e. - decrease of rating, health, mana etc... increase of cast time, mana cost etc... this kind of logic. Unfortunately as far as I know, you can't force debuff to be a buff, but you can force a buff to behave as a debuff (there's an attribute flag for that).

My workaround is usually that the visible "aura" gives only the positive effect and periodicaly triggers another spell with short duration wich gives the other "negative effect". That way you can apply both effect through ona spell cast / trigger etc, while still keeping the spell as a buff able to be cancelled by a player.
