you can also look what ifdefs it's looking for in the files that throws the error, if it's just trying to include that with no ifs, you prolly have a version that's not compatible with windows at all

doesn't boost have builtin support for websockets or something? lots of lua libraries can be tricky because they handcode the portability so they don't require external libraries, but if you're comfortable writing your own lua bindings maybe you can just wrap boost if there's no easy way to get luasockets working
