When you start the spell editor for the first time you target a empty database that it can use to create all the tables. You want to edit the spell table once it has been created and remove the primary key, otherwise you will get the duplicate entry error

You might have a different locale spell.dbc with the enUS other DBC's in the same folder - it gets confused if you have mixed locales

I use default spell.dbc, extracted from wow spell editor release so

Well it definitely doesn't error out using the data provided in the releases, plenty of people using that without any issues
