Also, good thing about doing it in Blender is that automating seems simple

I know nothing about Blender, other than it's a modelling tool. That's the sort of thing I would be willing to put a bounty out for though, developing some automated way to generate those minimaps for wmo's. I know someone on model-changing was advertising a minimap generating service, not sure if it included WMO's
