Yeah, realized that the issue is that the client only respects reactions based on factions (and other things like duels and groups)

The spell behaves as I want it to behave. I'm damaging the apparently friendly player because, due to being in an opposing faction, he's hostile serverside. I checked, it's damage, not a heal
