I mean.. even on release builds its not always just return 0 and continue for such things. They have pretty tight checks on multiple places regarding entity stuff and updatefields. If its just one byte of, you get at least a little 'hang' and a 'error' (not crash) log in release builds too. And with wrong/of data on fragment related stuff its often crashes instead
