they know about it so much that if you launch wow with a program that has "arctium" in the name, they ignore crash reports that get sent (if game crashes)

I'd recommend having one installation for both purposes. Just use 2 different configs. Regular Config.wtf for retail and coolname.wtf for localhost. You can then pass -config coolname.wtf to launcher, so wow will load that config (thats actually a wow feature, launcher is just forwarding it)
