[Archive] Extending WoWModelViewer's Capabilities
Quote: Hey there all, this will be my first contribution to the great community of MMOwned! I apologize for the kinda misleading title, but I just couldn't think of a different word for 'Capabilities.' Enjoy!
For those that use wowmodelviewer as much as I do, you'll notice that sometimes there are a few missing things from the lists: The latest models, fixes, music, etc. So, wondering why this was, I went into Config.ini file of WMV and made this very simple change:
MPQFiles=C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Patch.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Expansion.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Common.MPQ;
To:
MPQFiles=C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Patch.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Expansion.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Common.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\Patch-enUS.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\Locale-enUS.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\Base-enUS.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Patch-2.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\patch-enUS-2.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\speech-enUS.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\expansion-speech-enUS.MPQ;C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\enUS\\expansion-locale-enUS.MPQ;
All this does, is cause WMV to open all of the MPQ files! So, what you can do is if you are making a ton of model edits, just add something like:
C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data\\Patch-3.MPQ;
This will cause WMV to open your own changes and apply them as well. This will save you a lot of time since you can quickly just check out all the different changes to your races, characters, etc.
Anyway, hope that helps.

I did try a search, but obviously not enough. Perhaps I should recess back into Trolldom until I actually come up with something useful eh?

Quote:Well, I'd load my edits in there, but 99% of the time, Im doing edits that can't be viewed in there, sadly. Although I could probably load some of those edits in WoW Map Viewer, hmmmm. Well anyway, nice job.
