basically you create a page called phpinfo.php and stick it somewhere in your htdocs directory which just is a basic php page with the phpinfo tag

if you've enabled gmp and it's not showing as enabled on phpinfo, phpinfo will show what config file it's pulling from, so you can use that to diagnose it
