When I modded games, usually when issues suddenly started that never happened before, and it is something related to user error instead of program error, I noticed its most likely that some tutorial on youtube or such says to do it that way.
Or explains it in a way that can be misinterpreted. Like "Copy the line from the description and put it into your config"

Because you know... watching youtube videos that take 30 minutes to explain the thing that the official documentation does in less than 5 minutes reading is somehow preferable to people...
