Ideally you would import tdb and updates and then add your custom stuff (which autoupdater can import too)

With that you don't need TC delete + insert but just insert, which will tell you if there's any conflict

Yes. But not as something that can just be cleanly applied on top of any fresh copy. It was an issue I had a few months ago where I merged upstream TC and it nuked hundreds of custom rows, and it took a while to figure out what had been broken and restore it from a backup.
The guid ranges is probably the best middle-ground, it's not something I was aware of. It's still not great, especially if you want to use in-game commands to build out content.

If you have some custom already at a high range, next spawn should be even higher, right ?
