"As a Norwegian, it's pretty stupid words for even us. "Snoppen" sounds way to similar to something else, and Harry swallowed it... Can't help but think the translator had some fun with that one. Don't have to be Swedish to laugh at that one."

To be fair, I read the books as a kid and I didn't think twice about it, so I'm guessing it's some comic relief for the poor adults having to read the book for their kids
