I can install it if I wanted to and had it installed until I saw that it was a third party repo. I prefer to use the official debain repo, so that's out for me.
because the *.deb file does nothing but add a custom repo to your apt, which you can then use to install it from the mysql repo.

Do not rely on default debian repos for most tools you install. Web servers, databases etc. Always try to use the repos of those if they provide some instead of debian repos

It's the same if I prepare my server with custom patches for myself and then you say bad luck, install TC without custom patches otherwise no support because it's not official.

its not like we just dont support custom changes - but as long as there is no straight way of repilcating a crash on clean TC, we dont waste time to debug custom changes

I've been using official repos for many years and back then Debian still had the normal MySQL server. But then the devs switched to MariaDB and made it the standard and there must be reasons why the Debian developers did that.
