Been thinking about diving back into the tool I'd been writing for importing parsed packet data into Maya, after almost a year away from it...
The idea so far is I figured it'd be easier to edit spawn points and paths visually.
Like, I think the Scourge Invasion might've been the first thing I'd looked at, where I thought about taking the groups of mobs from one zone, and seeing how they line up with others. If they do line up, then one group of spawn points could be created as a template, then copied to the affected zones.
Caves are another example I've been thinking about, lately - WoW has a limited number of caves that get re-used over and over, what if the spawn points and paths get recycled, too?

...but then I think about how the biggest roadblock to using Maya as a visual WoW editor, is Maya is expensive.

short term, that just pushes me to separate the packet reader from the Maya object generator & UI. A companion script for Blender would make the whole thing more accessible, but I don't know Blender.
