It may be that it wasn't originally intended for that, but the endless possibilities of functions that you have go far beyond simple trash mobs mechanics. It may be that you can't script an encounter like the Lichking, I'm well aware of that, but simple and easy little mini bosses should be possible with it.

Meanwhile in the UK there is literally no such thing as public land and regulations for right to roam are a fucking nightmare of bureaucracy on at least 2 levels

in Sweden you have right to roam and camping, but I don't know how firewood is regulated and how strict that is.
