That's why I'm saying if I export that dbc to a patch-4.mpq, why wouldn't it just add the new item?

The client reads all mpq files, from oldest to newest

Basically if you want to add new entries to a dbc file, you have to create a new MPQ, then basically use the old dbc as base for adding new items and adding that to a new patch.
