The changes from wrath, no doubt. But, there's not really an excuse not to get it. They have all the info we don't. Retail client has most of the stuff they rely on. They could easily borrow what they need. The main problem I think was just not enough testing resources to find the problems.

For wow, what used to be beta is on par with alpha and release is at best on par with beta. And I don't think it is just classic that has this problem, or even just wow.

oh they do know where the problems come from. And infact, many of them started in tbc classic already. They had to re-do entire spells because the old versions didn't work with the modern server software anymore

I always thought they should have used the retail client for classic, put in the framework to handle the changable client side stuff, and implement the classic version of spells inside the main codebase. That way, classic would live on forever.

But! I know why they didn't do it that way too. No way they want to impact retail for classic.

the classic client IS a retail client. Just another branch of it. And that's where most problems come from. The old data doesn't work with the modern game anymore and needs to downgraded/reworked

Each version was the retail client from the era that classic tier was developed. They bring them up to date later. But, it's still a branch away from retail with classic added.

I am saying they should have put the classic stuff in, and have a single client used for all versions. I really don't think they did that.. Definitely not at the start, and I don't think so now. But I've not checked since probably BC

I really have less time to mess around with looking at such things now.
