It wasnt until I was getting pretty bad diminishing returns when it was decided to start threading zones (which wasnt active at the time of that 14.5k peak btw)

How do you get more clock cycles? Use more cores. How can a single process use more cores? Multiple threads.

It's pretty basic stuff and true. Of course, you can't just spin up infinite threads. That will starve yourself and have synchronisation/scheduling overhead.

Yes, that was always a rather large problem and hence threading zones later on, it kept the diffs stable
