there is the auto-select gossip option flag which immediately opens the vendor option. Also Classic has some very weird conversions. They somehow managed to mess this up for newer expansions. For example I know that in Cata, vendors should open immediately and this was probably also the case for 335 already. But Blizz apparently never bothers to update existing entries for newer expansions, so if the vendor existed in vanilla and behaved like this, this may drag through all expansions

well, anyways. the places where you can validate my statement is by talking to vendors which have been added with wotlk (3.4.x in classic). These are 'fresh' conversions and should have the correct type flags. The vendors in capitals like stormwind and orgrimmar are messed up
