That is quite confusing, why does `UNIT_MASK_GUARDIAN` not follow the same logic? Because they have hardcoded stats?

iirc its because guardians actually support stats (at least partially) while regular creatures dont (this is not blizzlike but a massive pain trying to guess stats)
