I'm definitely biased in that I only play custom. I find playing the same old min-maxed content that old patch blizzlike provides quite boring. And I'm not a fan of the direction the newer expansions took (content too easy until the very end game, pacing completely off, not being able to see units further than 10 yards away from you).

Creating custom content never used to be that feasible but with how far emulators have come (mainly TC) and how many resources/tools there are in the community now, almost anything is possible

I find it strange with these huge client side render distances showing an empty world because only units extremely close to you are pushed. I swear it never used to be as bad as it is on retail today

like 10yards are a few steps only. so now that's not the case. it's way higher and can actually depend on the unit

I don't actually think emulators advanced too far to be honest, same bugs exists since I discovered emu scene, they have only splitted in even many organisations
