Is there any information on what, why and where to patch the client? And then could it talk to newer bnetserver e.g. like from cataclysm version of TC or is the protocol used in 3.3.5 a completely unknown thing? (just trying to understand what's the technical background here)

So best bet for me would be to start off Cataclysm projects bnetserver / connection patcher and try to adapt? (Provided the information where to patch the client binary is available anywhere)
