when you send a normal string query, mysql returns results all as strings (with type metadata), all db tools can just display it as-is

basically we just dont have the type conversion layer in tc and work directly with raw data sent by server

But I still want to come back to why those issues happen again and again. You guys always refer to debian default stuff as requirement including min versions but you still want mysql.

So either use mariadb or prevent compile with it again somehow and force mysql version 8 and of course change the wiki to let users add the mysql debian apt repo manually so they can install it.
