search for it in the code, its used for shapeshift forms, calendar invites, ingame mail sending and friend request but thats pretty much it

If you're the wrong team in these areas, which are used for the cities, you get PvP flagged.

Which meant when I tried to make everyone use Common as default, Horde characters would get PvP flagged walking into Orgrimmar.
