Another tipoff is, the patrolling sentinels in the Night Elf starting areas would walk through the floor of buildings, nametag sticking above, like some kind of stone-wandering shark waiting to strike.

I recall now that I had errors during the installation process, the vmap thing failed to execute due to a "polluted output directory". So I had copied over some vmaps from a previous installation that was quite older and built mmaps on that. I wonder if it really is a bad/outdated data issue
