Yes, screen4life. I also still use vim (and vi back in the olde days of real unix). Signs of being old?

vim is just plain awful, it does not behave like a text editor at all, you have to do that mode switch thing

a sane person would expect text editor to let you actually edit right after opening a file

It's one of those things, you're either used to it and like it, or you're not.

To be fair, all the reasons for it to exist aren't relevant any more. But still, I quite like it.

Yeah, but the weird thing is.. I never learned the combos for nano stuff.. I remember the vim stuff to do pretty much my editing needs.

vim is among the better investments you can make for your wrists and thumbs, but it's very dumb how it's the default editor for things like git. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get used to

I don't think anyone should learn vim now, if you don't already know it. Like I said, it was invented in a different time, when terminals were slow and the characters you could send over the line were limited. But, if you're used to it, it feels better than learning something new.

isn't screen based entirely around ctrl activating every command? That button is so horribly situated on many keyboards i avoid it more than any other button
