That is one way of doing it. As for phased, as I recall he isn’t. All players could see your DK having fruits thrown at them while being spat on at the same time. The only phased instances of Thrall are for the Battle of Undercity that involves the Forsaken. You can see all phases NPCs with .Gm on and .Gm off respectively.

Or maybe add a change that lets you hand in quests with unfriendly NPCs specifically while that quest, and the Alliance counterpart, are active...
