if something is happening ingame, there are mostly obvious things to look for
check npcs via .npc info for SmartAI or ScriptName
could also be a trigger npc involved or, rarely, areatrigger scripts etc

targetting any of the involved npcs would have give you the information that there is a script attached, named "npc_a_special_surprise", so we now know there is code involved
