Jinnai is right also you can get a Windows OS for hosting your server... the price is almost the same for both Linux and Windows (at ovh.com) VPS servers under 10 bucks where you get 1 CPU, SSD and 4GB RAM at 100Mbits up/down.

TIP: when you host gaming servers (any) on a VPS put there a simple .txt file with a GNU license so you'll be safe somehow.

The less I spend the better. If I can get a decent deal to play with a few friends and family and not spend a ton doing it, it might be worth it. I dont mind playing in linux for a bit to see if I remember enuf to compile a core that way and export players. Just takes time to test and see. Its also learning more about this hobby and maybe one day I could also contribute.

for learning of course... the 8-10 euro per months is the best starter edition for any low-budget admin/dev.

you can upgrade later to a different plan for a dedicated solution but it will cost a fortune... (monthly). 100+ euros/bucks.. and don't host in US or France lol.
