i remember shauren explaining that you cant or shouldnt use the auth server as a gate for different expansions in irc, maybe your question better fits there

yes you can if you know programming, it's very easy but you have 2 issues, wotlk uses 1 system for auth, wod+ expansions use another, second issue you have to change the queries for the database

i know they changed the authentication from plain usernames to email at some point

yeah i know 3.3.5 and below uses usernames and above uses the bnet server

but from my understanding the bnet server is backwards compatible, so it lets u login with an email for say 3.3.5
